Great expectations. Different times and places.

Time flies. but i guess you all know this. what you don’t know is that it seems to fly in my favor this time. roughly because most times i don’t like it when times are ch-ch-changin’. another thing that you don’t know is that i’m planning a great escape to London, where my best friend is. time and purpose of visit? hopefully 1 year minimum to study. and learn as much as i can. and meet new people. and the list can go on.

my flight will be via The Netherlands where i’m planning to stay a night (or two) in Amsterdam, catch up with a friend , visit a museum or two, wonder the streets, have a huge cup of coffee and from there on just let myself surprised.

after arriving in London , Andrada and i planned a girlie moment sipping champagne out of paper cups in THAT* place in Kingston.

from there on i’ll show you in images what my great expectations are. from both cities.

Hugh Laurie for L’oreal Paris Men Expert

Haven’t been to date with a few things these past few months and now when i take the time to do some research, i am completely overwhelmed with information. i know nothing at this point. i am “so last season” as some hip people would put it (is “hip” a “last season” word as well?. is “so last season” so…last september?). it’s fine though, i’m always one step behind or one step ahead.

so, while listening to Hugh Laurie’s album Let Them Talk on Youtube (amazing album, btw) , i wasn’t completely surprised when i saw that he is the new face of L’oreal Paris Men Expert. ’twas about time, i say. and yes, it’s a very subjective point of view when i say that (really, who can blame me?) but i think that he is perfect for L’oreal. He’s funny, he’s good looking, he impersonates a witty, scandalous, brilliant doctor in House MD and he does it really well.

Cities and drinks

A recent status of mine on fb made me write this post (i don’t really like writing looong status updates on fb). It was about different drinks that remind me of some cities. Like mojito -Budapest, gin tonic-Bruxelles, worst wine -Paris (my fault), best wine-Vienna, smoothies and coffee – Amsterdam, beer -Koln, afri cola- Berlin, water of all sorts and kinds -Marseilles, cola-Bordeaux, mixed spirits – Lyon, cider – Lyon, grape soda – Budapest again, cheap beer – Cluj Napoca (oh student days, i so miss you), ice coffee – Hannover, pineapple juice – Bucharest and these are just some that cross my mind right now. It’s funny how we sometimes tend to cling to a little thing that will forever stick in our minds.like the drink we had when we first arrived in a city. I, for one think it is amazing and can’t wait to associate a drink with London. So what do you associate cities with?

Summer rain and white shoes

I’ve never been one that fancies white shoes, they always remind me of weddings or Sunday church (which i don’t attend, neither does my family but it’s always overused in Hollywood movies, hence my fear of white shoes).

but some shoes are just the exception needed to confirm the rule. just like these ones, which give me the perfect summer feeling, of sun , light showers, rainbows and a good time, even though i’m not the one wearing them…

Yesterday’s window installation

Whenever i walk around the city centre i tend to stop and stare at window installations. the sad part is that there aren’t too many smartly done arrangements. so, if i happen to grab a coffee and i see a nice store i just photograph it. like this one.

i like this one mostly because of the shoes and the glam-rock combination (though a bit last season) with that deserty/ native indian twist given by the feather and the dehydrated flowers/branches.

my only small objection would be that glass “table” which is poorly exectuted. i would have chosen a dark mahogany wood (small) table or a bigger rock, for that matter.

but

the thing is that here you can’t find that many (and do exclude the mall, the “place to be” for some.yuck) eye catching window installations. so, cudos for this one.

i will try to upload more photos of the few good window installations i see in Timisoara.

Follow the yellow brick road

I live in a city i consider to be really accesible by foot. it’s always the better option when you do not have the comfiness of a car. the buses are always crowdy and most times, passengers don’t see the importance of water and deodorant.

so, if it doesn’t rain or snow, i just walk. i get to listen to my carefully selected items in the playlist and most important, i get to think and plan things ( though it never turns out the way i plan it whilst listening to Tricky).

so here i am writing about long walks to work when actually i wanted to tell you more about my new red shoes. which of course, need no smart words. they’re simply adorable.

now i’m happy to say that i do follow the yellow (well, grey) brick road to work every day.

love,

m*
